Gijón, Spain – August 28, 2026 – The audience, almost 10.000 people, vibrated with the best show jumping horse-and-rider combinations participating in Las Mestas during the 2026 Gijón International Horse Show CSI 4* & CSI 2*. The main class of the day featured obstacles set at the height of 1.55 meters highh, offering 106.000 euros inm prize money.

All eyes were on him. Harry Charles (GBR), straight to Gijón from Aachen, where he won two bronze medals (team and individual) at the FEI Jumping World Championship last weekend, was unbeatable on the grass arena this afternoon. Riding Ballypatrick Tiberius, the pair were among the fastest in the first round, qualifying for the jump-off, where they went on to beat the other 12 qualifiers for victory in the €106,000 Fundación Gijón Rural CSI 4*.

Charles was the second-to-last rider in the second round; he faced difficulties at the second obstacle due to an awkward stride from his horse, but from that point on, it was all speed and not a single rail down. He was one of the favorites this afternoon, and his victory made it clear why.
