Julien Épaillard Dominates the Demeures de Campagne Prize CSI 4* with Le Coultre de Muze

Cabourg, France – May 29, 2026 – The Norman Julien Épaillard (FRA) won the €56,800 Demeures de Campagne Prize CSI 4* on Friday, the second qualifying event for the Grand Prix of the Cabourg Classic. Riding Le Coultre de Muze, son of Presley Boy with whom he has only just begun his collaboration, the twelfth in the world overcame a jump-off of sixteen competitors, half of whom were ladies. Both will enter the CWD Grand Prix of the City of Cabourg CSI 4*, this Sunday, May 31.

1:30 p.m., Tribune Ring. Kick-off of the €56,800 Demeures de Campagne Prize CSI 4*, the second qualifying class for the CWD Grand Prix of the City of Cabourg CSI 4*. Thirty tickets were still in play for the Sunday deadline. Under a typical seaside breeze and a sun playing hide and seek, the ordeal seems particularly pleasant to the lady riders. Fourth to set off on the course with Highlander des Épis, the Tricolore Inès Joly (FRA) signe the first clear round of the 1.50m class, opening the way for the jump-off. Of the seventy-five couples at the start, sixteen ultimately managed to exit without penalties from the course designed by Grégory Bodo (FRA), co-designer of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. And among them, half were riders.

Perfect Parity in the Jump-off
The majority having acquired their entry ticket for the jump-off in the first part of the event, the Amazons gradually see their male compatriots come to join them. In the end, the jump-off displays a happy parity of eight female riders and eight male riders. First to sign a double clear round, the Tricolor Adeline Lemens (FRA), in the saddle on Austin des Cèdres, set a reference time of 36”53, immediately lowered by her pursuer, the Belgian Anthony Wellens (BEL), in 35”74.

In turn, the rider from the Flat Country does not hold out for long: his compatriot Gudrun Patteet (BEL), in the saddle on Sea Coast Chica V.V. Z, crossed the finish line in 35”25, two competitors after him, and seems to firmly hold the reins of victory.

This was without counting on Julien Épaillard (FRA), who came as a neighbor to Cabourg to refine his complicity with Le Coultre de Muze, under his saddle for six months. Without incident and fluidity, the couple lowers the clock to 33”05. Simply unbeatable.

“The Controls are being Refined”, Julien Épaillard (FRA)
“We’re still getting to know each other a little bit. There can be a little hiccup from time to time, as happened last week in the warm-up in Aachen. We went there to see if it was potentially possible to consider the World Games with him. I think our relationship is still too tender, which is why I decided not to bring it back to Aix and to keep it fresh for this weekend. We skipped a small test yesterday [in the Prix De Sutter Naturally at 1.35 m], where the couple had achieved a flawless performance, editor’s note) to be sure that the horse was confident. It already went well yesterday. And, today, it’s great. He responded to the configuration of the obstacles. The settings therefore seem to be fine-tuned,” said the winner at the end of the event. The Norman plans to reassemble the whole – son of Presley Boy and grandson of Vigo d’Arsouilles – in the CWD Grand Prix of the City of Cabourg CSI 4*, this Sunday.

Saturday: Small Grand Prix CSI 4* presented by Range Rover
Before the Sunday meeting, Saturday makes way for two highlights of the program. Saturday’s Grand Prix presented by Range Rover, at 1.50 m, will open the sequence of major events at the start of the afternoon. And at the end of the day, the Jump & Drive by CWD, a hybrid format combining a rider on foot on an obstacle course and a car driver on a mini sports driving circuit, will recall the festive signature of the competition.

All Cabourg Classic events are broadcast live on GrandPrix.TV and on ClipMyHorse.TV, where each course is then available on demand. Live results on WorldSportTiming.
