Lisbon, Portugal – May 24, 2026 – The €56,800 Visit Portugal Grand Prix CSIO 3* brought the 2026 edition of the Al Shira’aa CSIO 3* Lisbon to a close after three days of competition at the Sociedade Hípica Portuguesa. It did so with victory for a rider from the United Arab Emirates: Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzooqi (UAE) aboard Chacco Bay.
Two brilliant faultless rounds secured victory for Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzooqi (UAE) and his powerful stallion Chacco Bay in the Visit Portugal Grand Prix CSIO 3*, contested over a demanding course of 13 obstacles featuring one double and one triple combination. Only five horse-and-rider combinations managed to complete the first round without penalties.
The Al Shira’aa Team rider repeated his faultless performance in the jump-off, stopping the clock at 38.43 seconds to defeat France’s Edouard Chauvet (FRA), who finished in 39.42 seconds with Zia Mia de la Bonn Z.
They were the only two riders to complete the jump-off without faults. Duarte Seabra (POR) finished third with Dourados 2 after knocking down the Sociedade Hípica Portuguesa vertical. American rider Kady Abrahamson (USA) aboard “Coquelicot VH Heuvelland Z” also finished on four penalty-points but in fourth place, while Pedro Veniss (BRA) placed fifth after his chestnut horse Nimrod de Muze Império Egípcio refused at the penultimate fence when victory was within reach.
Two Spanish riders narrowly missed qualifying for the jump-off, both finishing on four penalty-points due to a single rail down: Eduardo Álvarez Aznar (ESP), seventh with Harlequin des Flagues, and Jesús Garmendia (ESP), ninth with Caramel Blue PS.
Dr. Carla Simões, Director of Territorial Marketing and Business at Visit Portugal, presented the trophy to Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzooqi, winner of the Grand Prix. Also participating in the prize-giving ceremony were Bruno Rente, President of the Portuguese Equestrian Federation (FEP), José Manuel Figueiredo, President of the Sociedade Hípica Portuguesa (SHP), Álvaro Arrieta, President of Oxer Sport, and António Frutuoso de Melo, Director of the Al Shira’aa CSIO3* Lisbon.
With this ceremony, the 2026 edition of the Al Shira’aa CSIO 3* Lisbon came to an end, marked by sporting success and strong public attendance, reviving the traditional welcoming atmosphere of this emblematic Lisbon competition.
