Hamburg, Germany – May 13, 2026 – The 2026 Al Shira’aa German Jumping & Dressage Derby CSI 5* & CSI 4* got off to a great start on Wednesday at Klein Flottbek. After the kick-off of CSI 4* derby competition, it was showtime for showjumping with the running of the first CSI 5* contest. Fifty-nine riders from 16 countries competed in the opening of the Al Shira’aa Five-Star Tour in Hamburg, but no one one was as fast as Tom Wachman (IRL) from Ireland. The 21-year-old raced past the world’s top show jumpers in 26.41 seconds, winning the €28,750 CPA Lichtkonzept GmbH & Co.KG Prize CSI 5* in the saddle of Obora’s Laura.

Second place went to Kristaps Neretnieks (LAT) from Latvia, who had just won the first Derby qualifier, the €28,500 Al Shira’aa Derby Tour Prize CSI 4*. In the five-star 1.45m competition, he rode his Olympic horse Valour. Third place in the two-phase challenge was claimed by Philipp Weishaupt (GER), who guided Callao L in flawless fashion too, crossing the final timers in 28.10 seconds.
