
Hamburg, Germany – May 13, 2026 – Belgium prevails! One of the most traditional nations of the noble sport, the “Red Devils” were not denied victory on the opening day of five-star competition at the 2026 Al Shira’aa German Jumping & Dressage Derby CSI 5* & CSI 4*. Jérôme Guery (BEL) and Gigolo di Villagana earned a curtain-call victory in the main arena, topping the €28,625 B. Grimm Prize CSI 5*.
The highly-contested 1.45m speed challenge feature 53 combinations and it was the Belgian who rode supreme across the timers aboard the 12-year-old grey Italian Sport Horse (Ballantine di Villagana x Corrado I) in 65.55 seconds.
The host nation had to settle for second place as Tom Schewe (GER) and Deesse des Embruns conquered reserve honors in 66.90 seconds.
Three different nations represented amongst the top three was a true testament of fierce competition as France’s Nicola Sers (FRA) and Eleven de Riverland secured their place on the podium in 68.39 seconds.
