
Madrid, Spain โ May 12, 2026 โ Just one week before the start of the event, which will take place from May 15 to 17 at the Real Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, several of the top names set to compete in the CSI 5* category on Madridโs spectacular green arena have already been confirmed.
Among the riders are world-class figures such as Dutch riderย Maikel van der Vleuten (NED), a three-time Olympic medallist, and French riderย Simon Delestre (FRA), also an Olympic medallist and recently on the podium in the Grand Prix of the second LGCT stage in Mexico.
The international line-up also includes leading show jumping stars such as Austrian riderย Max Kรผhner (AUT), Australiaโsย Edwina Tops-Alexander (AUS), winner of the Madrid Grand Prix in 2023, and Belgian ridersย Olivier Philippaerts (BEL), Gilles Thomas (BEL) and Abdel Said (BEL). Abdel Said arrives in Madrid after winning the 2025 Prague Super Grand Prix and will be looking to secure another ticket to the final while aiming to defend his title.
Irish ridersย Bertram Allen (IRL) and Michael Pender (IRL)ย will also be among the competitors.

Spain will also be strongly represented in the CSI 5* category, with three riders competing as part of GCL teams.ย Eduardo รlvarez Aznar (ESP) and Sergio รlvarez Moyaย (ESP) will compete for the home team Madrid In Motion, while Mariano Martรญnez Bastida (ESP) will ride for Monaco Aces. All three will take part in Fridayโs GCL team competition, corresponding to the first and second rounds of the Marquรฉs de Riscal Trophy.
The Spanish representation in the CSI 5* category will also include riders such asย Julio Arias (ESP), Carlos Lรณpez-Fanjul (ESP), Alberto Mรกrquez Galobardes (ESP), Ivรกn Serrano (ESP), รlvaro Gonzรกlez de Zรกrate (ESP) and Jesรบs Garmendia (ESP).
More Than Just Competition
Taking place during Madridโs San Isidro festivities, the Longines Global Champions Tour of Madrid has established itself as the perfect plan to enjoy the holiday in the Spanish capital. Beyond the sporting spectacle, the event offers a complete open-air experience combining sport, leisure and entertainment for all audiences.
Each year, more than 20,000 people enjoy the unique atmosphere that has turned the event into one of Madridโs must-attend spring attractions. A commercial village featuring fashion brands, accessories and specialist companies, together with interactive sponsor areas, will provide entertainment options throughout the weekend.
The gastronomic offering, with a large food truck area, live music and childrenโs activities, completes an experience designed for the whole family. Younger visitors will also have their own dedicated space at the traditional Pony Park, where they can enjoy their very first riding experience in a safe and fun environment.
