Josch Löhden Makes the Dream Come True in the €110,000 Championat of Basel CSI 5*-W

Basel, Switzerland – January 10, 2026 – In the final competition of the third day, the €110,000 Championat City of Bassel CSI 5*-W for the Golden Drum run oever 155 cm, Germany made a strong statement. Josch Löhden (GER) secured victory with EIC Schabernack ahead of his compatriot Hans-Dieter Dreher (GER) on Vestmalle des Cotis.

Third place was claimed by Katharina Rhomberg (AUT) with Colestus Cambridge. A total of nine pairs had qualified for the jump-off, in which the Swiss had to admit defeat.

Löhden was visibly delighted after his victory: “When you make it to the jump-off, you naturally want to give it your all. I had an incredibly good horse, which helps enormously.”

Looking ahead to Basel, he added: “Basel was indescribable for me. This great finish makes it all the more wonderful – I’m looking forward to being back here again next year.”

The best Swiss rider was Adrian Schmid (SUI) with Chicharito 11 in fifth place. Barbara Schnieper with Licolle followed in seventh place, while Gaëtan Joliat with Chelsea Z came ninth.

Adrian Schmid’s conclusion after the course: “The plan didn’t quite work out, but it was still a good performance. Chicharito had a long break – this was only his second tournament and his first difficult jumping competition. Overall, I’m very satisfied.”
