London, England – December 20, 2025 – For the second day in a row, Great Britain came out on top at the 2025 London International Horse Show CSI 5*-W. After Jessica Mendoza‘s victory in the Brilliance Auction Snowball Stakes CSI 5*-W, it was Matthew Sampson‘s (GBR) turn to shine in the €28,200 The Mistletoe Stakes CSI 5*-W, presented bySport in Mind.
Riding aboard Balento C.S. against seven other combinations in the jump-off, Sampson was supreme with the 14-year-old grey Oldenburg stallion (Balou du Rouet x Cento), delivering the winning performance in 37.15 seconds.
It was a one-two for the home nation as Robert Whitaker (GBR) guided Gentleman vh Veldhof in flawless fashion too, earning silver honors in 38.46 seconds.
Jos Verlooy (BEL) and Etundel de Marocy posted the third-fastest clean performance of the 1.50m contest, securing third position in 39.64 seconds.
