Pattaya, Thailand โ December 04, 2025 โย After two days of competition in the Jumping discipline at the FEI Asian Championships Pattaya 2025, Taizo Sugitani (JPN) and the 14-year- old Hannoverian Quincy 194 (Frh Quaid x AS Di Villagana) hold the lead. Sitting in the second spot with a mere 1.04 penalty points is Yun-Chi Lin (TPE) with his partner Driss de Kerglenn (Mylord Carthago Hn x Cap Kennedy*bois Margot). Currently in third is Japanese rider Kazuki Takizawa (JPN) and CRN Digger with 1.43 penalty points.
Per the championship format, day one is a Table C speed competition. Each riderโs time is then multiplied by a 0.50 coefficient and converted into points, where the lowest number of points, or the fastest time on course, is assigned zero penalties. Then the remaining competitors are assigned the number of penalties that represents the difference between their time and the leading time. Going into the second round today, there were 12 athletes that were less than four faults from the leader.

The track on day two, designed by Olaf Petersen Jr. (GER), did change the leaderboard a bit. Although eight horse and rider combinations rode without incurring faults and kept their day one scores, a handful had rails or refusals adding to their penalties. Still tight at the top, what was twelve is now six riders within a rail of one another.

Fridayโs competition is the final round for the Teams. Japan leads the team standings with a total of 8.11 penalty points. Kuwait sits second with 14.42 and Hong Kong, China is third with 21.45. Team medals will be awarded at the end of Fridayโs round. Saturday the horses and riders get to take a day off from competition, gearing up for two
rounds on Sunday, when the individual medals will be determined and celebrated. Will Sugitani stay on zero throughout the remaining tests? With three rounds left, the challenge is on.
The FEI Asian Championships Pattaya 2025 are being hosted at B. Grimm Country Club, also known as Thai Polo & Equestrian Club Pattaya, with the support of B.Grimm.
