Oliva Nova, Spain – November 14, 2025 – For the second day in a row, Stephan de Freitas Barcha (BRA) stole the spotlight at the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour. After winning the first Grand Prix Qualifier with Dirka Império Egípcio the previous day, the Brazilian was back on top. This time, he partnered with Chevaux Hex Lup Império Egípcio to claim top honors in another feature class of the day, the €29,300 Rent a Car Dénia Trophy CSI 3*.
A whopping 91 combinations entered the ring for the 1.45m speed challenge, but it was Barcha who blazed past the competition, posting a foot-perfect performance with the 2009 chestnut Brazilian Sport Horse gelding in 63.80 seconds.
The next two spots on the podium were conquered by riders from Great Britain. Ellen Whitaker (GBR) rode Quainton X-Rated across the finish line in 65.53 for silver honors while James Smith (GBR) and Tayvale Honky Dory secured bronze honors in 67.10 seconds.
