Gregory Wathelet Wins the Queen’s Cup – Freixenet Trophy CSIO 5* at Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain – October 04, 2025 – Belgium’s Gregory Wathelet (BEL) claimed victory in the €56,800 Queen’s Cup – Freixenet Trophy – Generalitat de Catalunya Prize CSIO 5*, the feature class of the third day at the CSIO Barcelona.Riding Double Jeu d’Honvault, Wathelet delivered a spectacular second round, stopping the clock in 45.91 seconds and finishing more than two and a half seconds ahead of his closest rival.

Germany’s Sophie Hinners (GER), aboard Iron Dames Kaleni Jo, secured second place with a time of 48.25 seconds, while Italy’s Giulia Martinengo (ITA), with Coynor, claimed third in 49.06 seconds.

Andalusian rider Carlos Bosch, on O’Balou van de Plataan Kar, was the only other competitor to complete the demanding winning round without penalties, finishing in a remarkable fourth place in 54.79 seconds.

During the class, the President of the Spanish National Sports Council (CSD), José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, received the Joaquín Calvo Award in recognition of the Council’s continuous support of the CSIO Barcelona and its role in promoting sport. The award was presented by Marga Ferrer-Dalmau, widow of Joaquín Calvo.
