Calgary, Canada โ September 06, 2025 โ Besides CSIO 5* competitions, the 2025 Spruce Meadows Tournament also featured CSI 2* classes throughout the week. Before going on to win the $441,200 BMO Nations Cup CSIO 5* later on the day and the $5,000,000 CPKC International Grand Prix CSIO 5* on Sunday, Great Britain got its first of 3 major wins at the event and it was Charlie Jones (GBR) and Capitale 6 who were responsible for the feat. The dynamic duo dazzled in the $66,200 Friends of the Meadows Grand Prix CSI 2* on Saturday morning there.
Going up against six other combinations in the tiebreaker, out of the original 23 entries in the first round, Jones and the Morning Star Sport Horses’ 2011 Holsteiner gelding (San Patrignano Cassini x For Pleasure) jumped towards first place by clearing all the 1.45m fences and crossing the timers in 40.86 seconds.
The home nation was denied victory but Vanessa Mannix (CAN) and Lehar earned a respectable second place, doing so in 44.09 seconds.
The third-fastest clean performance of the tiebreaker was achieved by Laura Hazlett (USA) and Avianna, rounding out the top three in 45.01 seconds.
