Calgary, Canada — September 04, 2025 — Another busy afternoon on the International Ring with 60 competitors started for the  $74,010 Cana Cup – 1.60m. Cana has supported Spruce Meadows since the beginning in 1975, and their Chairman and CEO, John Simpson, was formerly a member of the Canadian Show Jumping Team.

FEI Course Designer Leopoldo Palacios (VEN) laid out a challenging track that featured 12 obstacles (15 jumping efforts) that had to be completed in 79 seconds or less. Germany’s Richard Vogel (GER) seems to have found his stride at Spruce Meadows. Aboard the grey stallion, Cloudio, the pair jumped clear in the jump off in a time of 45.54 seconds to secure the win. This was Vogel’s third consecutive win of the CANA Cup at the Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’.

“We, really perform our best with a lot of atmosphere and, with people cheering for us it’s starting to filling up (the Spruce Meadows grandstands) now, and, when the weekend arrives Friday, Saturday, Sunday, I think (when) we have, full stands that atmosphere is something we very look, forward to.” – “It just gives us, extra motivation and, the horses feel that, too. It was a one-two for Germany as Jorne Sprehe (GER) and Toys matched the winners’ clean scorecard, earning silver honors due to their final time of 46.31 seconds.

Europeans claimed the trifecta as rising star Thibault Philippaerts (BEL) and Lyandro rounded out the top three in 48.52 seconds.
