
Gijรณn, Spain โ August 31, 2025 โ A single round, and the fastest with the fewest penalties would win the โฌ28,200 Lacera Trophy CSI 4* on Saturday at the Gijรณn International Horse Show CSI 4* & CSI 2*. The participants, a total of 32 combinations, had to clear the course with obstacles set at the maximum height of 1.45 meters. Some of the favorites were present at this 4* level class: John Whitaker (GBR), Pedro Veniss (BRA), and Rodrigo Almeida (POR).
Also Abdullah Alsharbatly (KSA) with his horse Alamo. The crowd cheered him as soon as he entered the arena, and the Saudi Arabian didn’t disappoint, taking first place temporarily with a fast round in 61.37 seconds. However, the highly acclaimed Saudi rider would have to settle for second place.
Winners of the Volvo Trophy CSI 4* the previous day, Constant van Paesschen (BEL) entered the arena with Diaz du Thot and beat the Saudi Arabian, stopping the clock at 61.02 seconds. It was the Belgian’s second victory in the top category of equestrian racing. Yesterday, with the same mare, he had already won the final event of the day: the Volvo Trophy.
By the end of the challenge, attendance was on the rise. On the track, officials were preparing the course for the Grand Prix of Gijรณn CSI 4*, and the stands were filling up with the Gijรณn crowd, eager to close out the summer in the best way the city knows how: with elite horses, riders, and female riders jumping on the green of Las Mestas.
