Near Perfect Germans Gallop Away Victoriously in the €250,00 Land Rover Discovery Nations Cup CSIO 5*

St Gallen, Switzerland – May 30, 2025 – The 2025 Longines CSIO 5* of St. Gallen reached one of its two high points on Friday as the €250,000 Land Rover Discovery Nations Cup of Switzerland CSIO 5* took place there. Course designer Gérard Lachat (SUI) was responsible for elaborating the 1.60m test to decide the best nation amongst entries representing Austria, France, Brazil, Great Britain, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland and Saudi Arabia.

Marcus Ehning (GER) & Coolio 42

Counting on two flawless perfomrances by Marcus Ehning (GER) & Coolio 42, Sophie Hinners (GER) & Iron Dames Combella and Richard Vogel (GER) & United Touch S.

Richard Vogel (GER) & United Touch S

Hans-Dieter Dreher (GER) and Elysium were perfect in the first round but their 12 penalty-points in the round 2 were discarded, giving the Germans a clean scorecard overall for the uncontested win.

Jos Verlooy (BEL) & Parise van den Dael

Belgium was right on their heels after registering just four penalty points, thus securing silver honors, counting on two clean rounds by both Jos Verlooy (BEL) & Parise van den Dael and Thibeau Spits (BEL) & Impress van’T Kattenheye Z while Nathan Budd (BEL) was foot-perfect in the first round. Emilie Conter (BEL) and Portobella van de Fruitkorf duplicated their score of 4 penalty-points.

Steve Guerdat (SUI) & Dynamix de Belheme

Despite cheering their equestrian heroes, Swiss fans had to settle for third place. Steve Guerdat (SUI) and Dynamix de Belheme did not disappoint, leaving all the poles up while crossing the finish line within the time allowed at the end of their two performances. Nadja Peter Steiner (SUI was a pleasant surprise with Mila, matching Guerdat’s perfect trips arond the course. Edouard Schmitz (SUI) & Gamin van’t Naastveldhof kept Swiss hopes alive by registering 8 and 4 penalty-points but Martin Fuchs (SUI) and Commissar Pezi were not at their best form. After retiring in the first round, the duo who have delivered the goods so many times had a “bad day at the office”, registering 12 penalty-points in their second effort, keeping Switzerland in third place.
