Kevin Staut Gets off to the Perfect Start at the Cabourg Classic CSI 4*

Cabourg, France โ€“ May 29, 2025 โ€“ The 2025 Cabourg Classic began under the best auspices, combining high-level sport, sun, family entertainment and a festive atmosphere. For this first day, the โ‚ฌ28,200 Haras Normands Prize CSI 3* (1.50m) crowned Kevin Staut (FRA) and Vida Loca, authors of a winning return to the international scene.

Winner of the Grand Prix of Canteleu CSI 4* in 2024 with his 10-year-old chestnut mare, Kevin Staut (FRA) showed that he must always be counted on. Second to set off on the Tribunes track, the Calvadosian and Vida Loca signed a faultless, fast and fluid course, which no one managed to match among the sixty-seven starters. Twenty-three combinations finished flawlessly, but only Laurent Goffinet (FRA), second with Figaro des Parts, came close, less than a second away.

โ€œIn recent weeks, I have rethought her daily work. She sometimes expresses her discomfort in a radical way, and I have had to readjust my methods,โ€ explained Kevin Staut (FRA). “This victory is a great reward. I prefer to go through this ‘couple crisis’ now than a few weeks before the major championships.”

Thursday’s podium was completed by the Belgian Jรฉrรดme Guery (BEL) on Killer Queen, followed by Nicola Philippaerts (BEL) with Gadget Mouche. On the French side, Jonathan Chabrol, Jean Le Monze and Geoffroy de Coligny rank fifth, sixth and seventh respectively. The Spaniard Pilar Lucrecia Cordรณn (ESP) brings up the rear of the top 8 on Pica Pica.

From this first day, the atmosphere was festive around the slopes. The public responded, the aisles of the exhibitor village were very busy and the Classic Kids area was always full. Pony rides, shows, horse-related workshops: the Cabourg Classic spirit was there, in a setting that remains as unique as ever between historic racecourse and seaside.

Twenty-five couples have already qualified for the CWD Grand Prix of the City of Cabourg, scheduled for Sunday. Tomorrow, the others will have their last chance to secure their place in the Prix Demeures de Campagne (1.50m with jump-off), which will start around 1 p.m.
