Francisco Goyoaga Mollet & Clic ES Patrons Power to the Top in the $62,500 Spring Classic CSI 3*

Lexington, Kentucky, United States – May 15, 2025 – An international field of athletes gathered at the Rolex Stadium on Thursday night to compete in the $62,500 Spring Classic CSI 3* during the Kentucky Spring Classic at the Kentucky Horse Park. Fifty-four combinations were narrowed down to 11 for a test of speed and accuracy during the technical jump-off. Francisco Goyoaga Mollet (ESP) laid it all on the line with Clic ES Patrons, speeding through the turns and galloping home for the night’s victory. Alexandra Worthington (USA) and De L’Oiseliere placed second, just one-tenth of a second ahead of third-place finishers Jonathan McCrea (USA) and Jannan S.

Goyoaga was ecstatic after his win, expressing, “This is a great win, I am so happy for my horse! She’s a new horse to us, so it’s a big win for her, me, and the whole barn too.”

Course designers Anderson Lima (BRA) and Jason Shelley asked questions throughout the 13-obstacle track in the Rolex Stadium, which included several rollbacks, a triple combination, and a one-stride on route to the last fence. Eleven combinations had all the answers in the first round and advanced to the tiebreaker. The jump-off began with a delicate vertical on a bending line, followed by the first tight rollback. They then continued to a wide oxer before galloping to the double combination and turning to a single vertical away from the gate to the final oxer.

Six of the jump-off qualifiers were able to produce a second clear round, the first of which was McCrea and Jannan S, who set the original time to beat at 38.59 seconds as the night’s pathfinders. They left the rest of the field chasing them, with only Mollet and Worthington able to best his time.

Worthington and De L’Oiseliere went midway in the jump-off order and were just fractions ahead of McCrea with a time of 38.49 for second place. None of the other athletes came close to catching Mollet and Clic ES Patrons, though. They dashed across the finish line in 36.96 seconds to claim the night’s victory by two seconds.“I actually did one less than what my plan was – I had a great first jump and stayed on that track and pace throughout the course,” explained Goyoaga, “She’s so quick rolling back, and a naturally fast horse.”

Clic ES Patrons is an 11-year-old Spanish Sport Horse mare that has been in Ashland Farm’s program for just three months. “She’s a new horse, she just got here to the US. a couple of months ago,” smiled Goyoaga. “She’s a trier, she tries her best every round. She’s super smart, super careful, and she’s scopey. I’m excited for the future with her.”

Goyoaga was thrilled to be back at the Kentucky Spring Horse Shows, concluding, “Kentucky is what I consider one of the best places in America for the horses. The horses love all of the room and the grass, and I also just love being here.”

The next event for Mollet will be Saturday night’s $125,000 Mary Rena Murphy Grand Prix CSI 3*, presented by Hagyard Equine Medical Institute. Riders will also have the opportunity to showcase their mounts during Sunday’s $35,000 Commonwealth Grand Prix, presented by Sterling Equestrian/Forest Hill and the $15,000 U25 Grand Prix.
