San Miguel de Allende, Mexico – February 22, 2025 – International level competition was back in grand fashion last week at Otomí Club Hípico / Otomí Residencial Hípico, culminating with the running of the feature class of the week, the $1,455,000 GNP Seguros Grand Prix CSI 2*. In the end, it was a mare named Mamacita who made Nicolas Pizarro (MEX) proud, powering him past past the competition on the grass field there.
After having finished in 13th place in the Playdoit CSI 2* – 1.45m two days before, Pizarro and the 11-year-old Oldenburg mare meant business right from the start, registering one of the 10 penalty-free performances in first round to advance to the tiebreaker of the 1.45m contest. The dynamic duo delivered another great performance, nipping John Perez Bohm (COL) and Lareusa S by less than three-tenths of a second.
Nicolas turned on the nitro aboard his marvelous mare, crossing the finish line in 39.83 seconds for the win while Bohm blazed through the timers in 40.09 seconds to secure silver honors.
Juan Carlos Martin del Campo (MEX) and La Costa were on “cruise control mode”, riding effortlessly towards two solid performances, the decisive one in 41.50 seconds to guarantee the third spot on the podium.
