Dutchman Dominates! Jur Vrieling Denies Germans Victory on Home Soil at Leipzig

Leipzig, Germany โ€“ January 1, 2025 โ€“ A Dutchman dominated the feature class on opening day of the 2025 Partner Pferd – Leipzig CSI 5*-W. Held Thursday evening, Jur Vrieling (NED) and Kannan Jr. sped past the competition in the โ‚ฌ10,150 Uvex Sports Prize CSI 5*-W.

The 1.45m speed challenge was contested by 57 combinations but it was Vrieling who was victorious aboard the 10-year-old grey Dutch Warmblood stallion (Cornet Obolensky x Quick Star), leaving all the poles up before crossing the finish lines towards victory in 56.42 seconds.

Almost a second a half behing, it was “the young gun” representing the host nation, Philipp Schulze Topphoff (GER), who came the closest aboard Corny Mย (Connor x For Pleasure).

Perhaps the winningest rider the past two months, Hans-Dieter Dreher (GER) rounded out the top another of his stellar Selle Franรงais mounts, this time riding ย Forpleasure du Moulinย (For Pleasure x Chin) just four-hundredths of a second behind the latter two.
