Piergiorgio Bucci at A Coruña CSI 5*-W: “I Will Try Again this Sunday”

Madrid, Spain – December 08, 2024 – Last Sunday, he won the World Cup Grand Prix at IFEMA Madrid Horse Week in the Spanish capital, and Piergiorgio Bucci (ITA) approaches the CSI5*W A Coruña with great enthusiasm, ready to earn more points for the World Cup. The Italian rider shares with us his plans for Casas Novas this weekend.

A few days ago, we spoke in Madrid, where you had just won the World Cup Grand Prix at IFEMA. Now, at Casas Novas, are you feeling confident about another victory?

Well, for sure I came here with a very positive attitude. Sunday will be the big day and I feel that my horse is in a really good shape so I hope I could try to win again.

You’re here with “Hantano” and “Kiss Me Fabulesse.” Will you use “Hantano” again for the World Cup Grand Prix?

Yes. “Kiss Me Fabulesse” is a very good horse too, but it´s a little bit less prepared, Hantano at the moment is my best horse, it´s more competitive, and it feels great, so I will ride it again.

We know that horses are like any athlete, how do you manage the training of “Hantano” after the big show of last week having this week another Grand Prix?

Weel, we are lucky that we are here at Casas Novas, where we have such great facilities. We´ve a big ring, so Hantano had a few easy days with my groom, she´s also a very good rider, so she just kept it a little bit busy without much stress.

At 12 years old, turning 13, is “Hantano” in his peak condition? Do you think that it will have a long career?

Well, it´s a great athlete. We always took care and try to not jump so much for save it as much as possible. So I hope that it will be competing for many more years.

If everything goes well on Sunday, will the Basel Final be an option?

Yes, absolutely, I feel that “Hantano” jumps great at indoor, it already was really good in Verona. After Casas Novas, if everything goes well, I will do Basel and Amsterdam the next week, and the goal is obviously try to qualify for the final.

And what about the European Championship? Are you considering it as a goal?

Yes, it is one of my goals for the next year. Be here again at Casas Novas is an extra motivation, “Hantano” loves Spain. He won a month ago the Grand Prix at Valencia, and last week at Madrid, he really like the air of Spain, so I hope that we will be in a good shape to come back here for the European Championship.
