Jesús Garmendia Gallops to Victory in the €106,450 Mutua Madrileña Trophy CSI 5*-W

Madrid, Spain – November 29, 2024 – The first big class of the weekend at IFEMA Madrid Horse Week has left the audience speechless and made the stands roar with a memorable Spanish triumph. Jesús Garmendia (ESP), won the €106,450 Mutua Madrileña Trophy CSI 5*-W 1.50m, the main show of the day, offering a spectacular and exciting clear round with his faithful partner Callias.

Garmendia, who was number 40 out of a total of 51 riders to go to the arena, showed his skill and speed on a demanding course, achieving an impressive time of 57.11 seconds, which remained unbeaten for the rest of the competition. The crowd, captivated by the impeccable performance of the Spanish rider, experienced a moment of euphoria as a fellow countryman took the first great victory of the weekend.

In second place, just one second behind the Spanish, was the Belgian rider Gregory Wathelet (BRA) with his horse Double Jeu d’Honvault, who also offered a fast and clear round. The podium was completed by Brazilian Marlon Modolo Zanotelli (BRA), who with his horse Zy-Zento came close to victory, achieving an impressive third place.

The competition was marked by speed, and in fourth place, almost snatching the position from her husband, was the Swedish rider Angelica Augustsson.

The Mutua Madrileña Trophy was presented to the winner by Ignacio Garralda Ruiz de Velasco, President of the Mutua Madrileña Group.
