Amanda Derbyshire Bookends the Podium in the $32,000 C. Jarvis Insurance Welcome CSI 2*

Aiken, South Carolina, USA โ€“ November 07, 2024 โ€“ It was a battle between 17 horse-and-rider combinations on Thursday afternoon at Bruce’s Field in Aiken, South Carolina as the Lugano Diamonds Split Rock Jumping Tour (SRJT) boasted a large and competitive jump-off for the $32,000 C. Jarvis Insurance Welcome CSI 2* – 1.45m. With two rides in the second round,ย Great Britain’s Amanda Derbyshire (GBR) doubled her spot on the podium to take the win with Zadora (Zavall VDL x Padinus), the mare she co-owns with David Blake, and finish in third place aboard her own and Gochman Sport Horse’s Cornwall BH (Con Air 7 x Cambridge 8).

Seven of the eight nations represented made their way forward to round two, proving the more competitive test would come in Anderson Lima‘s (BRA) abridged 8-effort track. As the first combination clear across the 15 jumping efforts in round one, Ansgar Holtgers (USA) and Pixel-K van’t Kattenheye led the way in the jump-off with a clear round time of 38.82 seconds. However, their time was quickly bested by Ireland’s Jonathan Corrigan (IRL) aboard Darius de Kerglenn, shaving over a second off of the pace to finish in 37.63 seconds.

Four combinations would follow Corrigan, trying to match the quick and clean rollbacks showcased to the verticals at the third and sixth fences on the track. Derbyshire and her new partner of only four months, Zadora, would set off with pace, starting with one less than Corrigan in the first line, maintaining their speed throughout to over take the lead with a new time of 36.71 seconds.

Samuel Parot (CHI) & Buga Z

No stranger to the SRJT winner’s circle, Samuel Parot (CHI) gave a valiant effort with his own Buga Z (Chester Z x Quality Touch Z), crossing the timers in 37.04 seconds to slide into second place.

Amanda Derbyshire (GBR) & Cornwall BH

Derbyshire would later enter with Cornwall BH as last to go with the win already in hand, giving a nice finish to round out the podium for third place in a time of 37.37 seconds. Corrigan would ultimately settle for fourth place with Katherine Dinan (USA) taking fifth on Out of the Blue SCF and Holtgers in sixth.

The Split Rock Aiken CSI2* will highlight the $100,000 Lugano Diamonds 1.45m Grand Prix CSI 2* on Saturday, November 9, as the stop also adds hunter competition to the venue for the first time. The series will then head to the West Coast to make its debut at Santa Anita Park for the Los Angeles National and Santa Anita CSI5*-W in partnership with 1/ST.
