Matthew Sampson Battles Fellow Countryman to Win Big at the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour CSI 3*

Oliva Nova, Valencia, Spain โ€“ October 18, 2024 โ€“ Two British riders battled it out for top honors on Friday at the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour CSI 3*. In the end it was Matthew Sampson (GBR) and William Funnell (GBR) who galloped head-to-head all the way to the wire at Centro Ecuestre Oliva Nova, with just a few hundredths of a second separating the two oustanding riders in the โ‚ฌ29,000 Dammann Reitplatz & Sportplatzbauย Trophy CSI 3*.

Sampson soared towards first place aboard the 2014 bay Irish Sport Horse mare MGH Candy Girl (Sligo Candy Boy x Cruising), completed their penalty-free performance in 66.11 seconds.

Funnell (GBR) and Equine American Billy Picador were right on the heels of the winning duo, finishing only eight-hundredths of a second behind.

Lars Kersten (NED) and Boebka vh Marienshof Z crossed the timers in flawless fashion too, doing so in 66.64 seconds.
