
Valkenswaard, The Netherlands – August 24, 2024 – Henrik von Eckermann (SWE) and Glamour Girl can definitely say they were the most successful combination competing at the 2024 Longines Global Champions Tour of Valkenswaard CSI 5* & CSI 2*. Before going on to finish third in the feature class of the week, the €308,600 Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Valkenswaard CSI 5* on Sunday, due to a an unlucky rail down and despite the fastest jump-off , the dynamic duo warmed up for it by winning the €105,750 Second GCL Individual Challenge CSI 5* on Saturday.
Von Eckermann was victorious aboard the 13-year-old bay KWPN – Royal Dutch Sport Horse / Dutch Warmblood (VDL Zirocco Blue x Caletto I), daring Glamour Girl to gallop across the grass arena before crossing the finish line in flawless fashion, being timed in 71.22 seconds.
A testament of pure speed and being raised in a country where children speed race on Shetland ponies, two Irishmen tried to give the world number a run for his money, falling well short despite penalty-free performances.
Denis Lynch (IRL) and Vistogrand finished second in 74.18 seconds while Michael Duffy (IRL) and Calypson de Beaufour rounded out the top three in 75.91 seconds.
