Vejer de La Frontera, Spain – March 15, 2024 – The 2024 Andalucía Sunshine Tour held the €29,200 Ayuntamiento de Barbate Trophy CSI 4* on Friday, a FEI Longines Ranking, 1.50m speed class, held in the David Broome grass arena.

Michael Pender (IRL) was fourth to go and took an early lead in the with HHS Fortune (Catoki x Douglas). He set the time to beat at 61.76 seconds and was pretty secure on top of the preliminary podium for much of the class. 

However, that was until top Dutch rider, Sanne Thijssen (NED) came in with Con Quidam RB (Quinar Z x Cardino 5) and flew round with a superb clear in a mere 60.16 seconds, taking the lead for good and leaving Michael in second place. 

After that no one could step up to the challenge, but the Spanish rider,  Eduardo Álvarez Aznar (ESP) and D’Orient de Batilly (Numero Uno x Quaprice Boimargot Quincy) had a great round and claimed third place, just in front of fellow Spaniard, Alberto Márquez Galobardes (ESP) with Kelly and the Brazilian rider, Pedro Veniss (BRA) with Nimrod de Muze Império Egípcio who was fifth.

2) Michael Pender (IRL) & HHS Fortune – 0 / 0 – 61.76

3) Eduardo Álvarez Aznar (ESP) & D’Orient Batilly – 0 – 63.20
