
São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil – August 23, 2023 –With $1,800,000 million reais as the total purse, the event has a 5* level and brings to an end the observation period towards selection of the team for the 2023 Pan-American Games. Olympic riders Doda Miranda (BRA), Stephan Barcha (BRA), the current leaders of the Brazilian ranking, and José Roberto Reynoso (BRA) are candidates three, two and five-time champions of the Grand Prix.
From the 22nd to the 27th of August, the equestrian elite of Brazil will be flying high in the international and national-level classes of the CSI-W 5* and CSN 4*, all during Longines São Paulo Horse Show, the 33rd Indoor Jumping of Brazil at Sociedade Hípica Paulista, each year the most anticipated equestrian event in South America. The event, which distributes R$ 1.8 million in prize money, is the first at the 5* level (maximum level) after 11 years in Brazil, featuring six international classes.
The highlight will be R$ 1,000,000 Longines Grand Prix CSI 5* for the Jayme Loureiro Filho Trophy, at 1.60m, on Sunday, 8/27, the last competition on Brazilian soil valid as observation for the Pan-American Games, one of the qualifiers for the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Final and 7th leg of the Brazilian Senior Top Ranking, distributing five times as much as the purse of normal grands prix. In addition, riders from the host nation have the opportunity to score points for the FEI Longines world ranking.
The layout of the courses is in the best hands of Brazilian Olympic course-designer Guilherme Jorge (BRA), responsible for the courses at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and major equestrian competitions in the world.

At the top of the Brazilian senior top ranking (maximum level) after seven stages in the 2023 season, all valid as observation for the Pan-American Games, the Olympic medalist, Doda Miranda, 50, who returned to compete at a high level in Brazil after a hiatus of almost 20 years living in Europe, recently won the Brazilian senior top championship for the fifth time, showing that longevity is one of the great differentials in equestrian sport.

Fellow Olympian, Stephan Barcha (BRA), who is active in Europe but is coming to the indoor show, is in 3rd place in the ranking.

Among the confirmed riders are medalist Doda Miranda, the current Brazilian senior top champion and two-time champion of the Indoor GP 1998/2022, José Roberto Reynoso Fernandez Filho (BRA), four-time champion 2010/2018/2019/2020, Stephan Barcha (BRA) , the champion in 2021, Cesar Almeida (BRA), the champion in 2016 and José Luiz Guimarães de Carvalho (BRA), the champion in 2006, amongst others.

In all, 26 events from 1.10m to 1.60m will take place. The 1.10m and 1.20m series will also feature amateur riders from oveerseas, guests from the United States, New Zealand, Bolivia and Great Britain as part of the Global Amateur Tour schedule. Also noteworthy is the Stuttgart Porsche Car Ride & Drive Challenge, which has already become a tradition during the Indoor at the Sociedade Hípica Paulista (SHP).
Entertainment
Living up to a unique entertainment and relationship platform with several VIP areas, at the end of each day, there will be no lack of parallel attractions with musical shows, in addition to special presentations during breaker, boulevard of shops, bar & restaurant and Japanese food. Jazz shows, Country music by Mateus & Cristiano, Bohemian Rock, Horseman Show Jumping, a group of men who make an unusual performance by jumping on foot, the Candelight Show and renowned DJs, all on the agenda, among other surprises. There’s also a Kids area, which is open from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm.
Moreover, the 5th Next Generation Auction will be held on Saturday, 8/26, once again promising to showcase the best of the national breeding and a Charity Auction in favor of Riding Therapy at the SHP School, the latter being held on Sunday, 8/27.
The Road to the Pan-American Games, the Qualifier for the Olympics
Important grands prix in Brazil and overseas as well as Nations Cups have been a part of the preparation and observatory events in the selection process of Team Brazil and its members for the 2023 Pan-American Games, set to take place in San Sidro, Chile, from 10/31 to 11/4, with the the first three countries stamping their passports to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Frache.
