Marco Kutscher & Aventador S Accelerate to Win the €100,000 Grand Prix of Holstein CSI 4*

Pinneberg, Germany – August 06, 2023 – It was obvious to him: Marco Kutscher (GER) was really enjoying the moment. With the ten-year-old chestnut stallion Aventador S, the former double European champion won the Holstein Grand Prix CSI 4*, worth $100,000 euros, at the CSI Hof Waterkant.

The 48-year-old coachman took the lead from his colleague Christian Kukuk (GER) and the Comme il Faut son Checker (0/42.22) in a lightning-fast 40.95 seconds, without any mistakes and also stylistically impressive. “I have to say it’s been a little while since I’ve won a Grand Prix at this level,” said the winner with a big smile, “and one of the things I’ve learned is that you take your time I have to enjoy that too and I will now.”

Kutscher highlighted the obvious qualities of Aventador S (Armitage x Charming Boy_ and did not hide the fact that “it is a bit special”. Despite all the satisfaction about the victory, Kutscher did not forget to thank the hosts. “Those were difficult days because of the weather and anyone who knows what goes into a tournament also knows how much work goes into it. This has been done tirelessly here – therefore to our hosts and to everyone who helped – respect!”

Gerben Morsink (NED) & Navarone Z

Four out of 43 couples had made it into the jump-off of the Holstein Grand Prix. In addition to Kutscher and Kukuk, Dutchman Gerben Morsink (NED), who finished third with Navarone Z (Nabab de Reve x Amor) after a knockdown,

Markus Renzel (GER), who finished fourth with Canmore. This earned the Westphalian a special prize, because Canmore by Casall-Contender was the best Holsteiner horse in the Grand Prix and was bred by Birgit Becker.

The most successful Amazon of the tournament – Teike Carstensen (Sollwitt) – is also Holsteiner. The silver medal winner of the U25 German Championships came seventh in the Grand Prix with the Holsteiner mare Greece, bred by the family, ahead of hostess Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann (GER), who had saddled the mare Cornela, just like in the Itzehoer Versicherung Championship CSI 4* on Saturday.

The rider could not even count how many helping hands there were: “No, I don’t have a number, but I know that everyone worked a lot of overtime, including and especially our people, because they also liked being hosts and that makes me proud and grateful.” Meyer-Zimmermann thanked the spectators who, especially on Saturday and Sunday, made sure that the CSI Hof Waterkant was a motivating, special and beautiful experience for the protagonists in the saddle.
