
Rotterdam, The Netherlands – June 22, 2023 – A German one-two punch €27,550 Havenbedrijf Rotterdam Prize CSIO 5* Thursday night in the Kralingse Bos. The German rider Hans-Dieter Dreher (GER) and Vestmalle des Cotis claimed the win in this class right on time. He thus stayed ahead of his compatriot Kendra Claricia Brinkop (GER) by almost a second. Frenchman Kevin Staut (FRA) finished third.
No less than 23 of the 50 combinations that appeared in the arena rode a clear round. The biggest challenge in this course were the double jump 8 and the oxer 11, which was placed in front of the VIP grandstand. Ireland’s Harry Allen (IRL) and Calculatus had an early start and immediately set a fast time of 64.43 seconds.
It seemed for a long time that no one would match their time, until Dreher appeared in the arena. In the end he just missed the podium and finished fourth. With a daring ride, Dreher and his chestnut Selle Français gelding Vestmalle des Cotis (Baloubet du Rouet x Landor S) stayed ahead of the rest of the field with a lightning fast time of 61.92 seconds.
Kendra Claricia Brinkop (GER) and Ma Belle (Ugano Sitte x Bayard d’Elle) set the second fastest time (62.88 sec.). It was a successful day for the German rider. In the Dura Vermeer Prize CSIO 5*in two phases she already come in third place with Nector vd Bisschop.
Experienced French rider Kevin Staut (FRA) was third on Cornet’s Velvet RS (Cornet Obolensky x Acobat II) with a time of 64.10 seconds.
Best Dutchman was Maikel van der Vleuten. With Luigi d’Eclipse he finished sixth with a time of 65.45 seconds.
