Bolesworth Castle, United Kingdom – June 15, 2023 – Jonathan Smyth (IRL) riding Mulvin Lui could not be beaten as they tackled the first of two GP qualifiers, the £25,400 Grand Prix Qualifier CSI 3*, sponsored by HM3 Legal on a course expertly designed by Javier “Chape” Trenor.
Eighty-eight combinations came forward for the 1.45m speed class which set the scene for a weekend of World Class showjumping at the Bolesworth International CSI 3*. The Irishman and the 2010 chestnut Irish Sport Horse gelding (Luidam x Vincent Loftus) produced the fastest flawless performance in 60.62 for the win.
It was battle between Britain and Ireland for the top position on the podium as Jonathan was closely followed by two well-known British riders also left all the poles up and were very fast amongst the 16 fault-free performances. Emma Stoker (GBR) rode Daisy towards silver honors in 62.92 seconds while George Whitaker (GBR) guided Peanut across the finish line just one-tenth of a second, rounding out the top three.
