Spruce Meadows, Calgary, Alberta, Canada – June 11, 2023 – Earlier this week riders in the FEI CSI 2* division competed in the Mission: Possible 1.45m competition in order to qualify for Sunday’s $75,900 Canadian Utilities Grand Prix CSI 2*.
Thirty-five horse/rider combinations tackled the two-round competition to start the day on the North American Ring but only six riders (representing 5 nations) posted clear rounds and advanced to the jump off.
In the end, it was Conor Swail (IRL) and Gamble who added another red ribbon to their collection. Swail and the 12-year-old bay Dutch Warmblood / Royal Dutch Sport Horse gelding (Vingino x Indoctro) edged out Nayel Nassar (EGY) by two hundredths of a second (43.43s compared to 43.45s) and galloped to victory.
Matthew Sampson (GBR) and MGH Candy Girl completed the podium after two penalty-free performances too, securing bronze honors in 44.32 seconds.
