
Kronenberg, The Netherlands – April 08, 2023 – Mario Stevens (GER) and Starissa soared to the top in the €27,200 Ashford Farm Grand Prix CSI 2* last Saturday at the Peelbergen Equestrian Centre. The highly-contested 1.45m class featured 75 combinations in the first round and 22 jump-off contenders.
In the end, it was Stevens and Albert Sprehe`s 2013 bay Hannoverian gelding (Stakkato Gold x Quidam’s Rubin) who rose to the occasion, registering the fastest time of 37.55 seconds among all finalists, yet completing their final performance in flawless, thus securing the win.
It was a one-two for Germany on Dutch soil as Tim Rieskamp-Goedeking (GER) and Coldplay (Chacco-Blue x Pilox) went head-to-head all the way to the wire with the eventual winners, finishing after being only second seventeen-hundredths slower (47.72 seconds) in the tiebreaker.
One of the most consistent riders at the venue the past two years, Leopold van Asten (NED) managed another podium finish, this time with VDL Groep Iron Z (Charisma Z x Mr. Blue), registering no penalties in 38.63 during the tiebreaker for bronze honors.
