Super Max Kuhner Supreme in the $200,000 Longines Grand Prix of Basel CSI 5*-W

Basel, Switzerland – January 13, 2023 – The second night of the Longines CHI Classics Basel CSI 5*-W already featured a major attraction and the CHF $200,000 Longines Grand Prix of Basel CSI 5*-W did not disappoint atendees and spectators watching it online. In the end, Max Kühner (AUT) triumphed aboard Eic Cooley Jump the Q.

The 1.60m jump-off challenge featured 45 combinations, many of them having already five-star grand prix victories accredited to their names. After the first round, fourteen pairs managed to advance to what promised to be a thrilling tiebreaker.

Kühner (AUT) and the 10-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding (Pacino x Obos Quality) laid down the gauntlet, not only leaving all the poles up for their second flawless performance but also registering the winning mark in 31.81 seconds.

Winners of the €1,500,000 Rolex Grand Prix of Aachen CSI 5* last July, Gerrit Nieberg (GER) and Ben came close to adding another major jewel to their collection of achievement, falling just short by 34 hundredths of a second.

The level of the class was enhanced by another podium finish from a five-star duo. With two grand prix victories competing in the 2022 Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) Christian Ahlmann (GER) and and the stunning stallion Dominator 2000 Z did not disappoint, also posting two clean performances, the decisive one in 32.27 seconds.
