
Mechelen, Belgium – December 27, 2022 – Emanuele Gaudiano (ITA) got off to a great start on Tuesday at the 2022 edition of the Jumping Mechelen CSI 5*-W & CSI 2*. With Crack Balou, the Italian managed to claim the win the €25,500 Léon Melchior Open Sires of the World CSI 5*-W.
The 1.45m jump-off challenge featured several of the top stallions in the world among the 21 entries but it was Gaudiano and the 10-year-old dark bay Hanoverian stallion (Balou du Reventon x Chacco-Blue) who rode victoriously across the ring, completing their winning performance in 37.58 seconds.
The Netherlands claimed the next two top placings at the top of the leaderboard with Harrie Smolders (NED) guiding Uricas vd Kattenvennen (Uriko x San Patrignano Cassini) to finish in second place, timed in 38.40 seconds.
Kevin Jochems (NED) was the other Dutch rider among the top three, counting on Casillas van de Helle (Casall x San Patrignano Corrado) to complete their flawless jump-off run in 39.48 seconds.
