Riesenbeck, Germany – December 11, 2022 – Course director Phil Schmauder (GER) and his team set up the last Grand Prix of the year, the €25,650 Grand Prix of Riesenbeck CSI 2* at the Christmas decorated event hall of Riesenbeck International – and it was a tough one. Fifty-two combinations competed, eight of them qualified for the jump-off with a clear round.
The course was straightforward yet difficult one, in the jump-off it was then a matter of mastering the many turns on offer and a final sprint over a steep jump to the finish.
And this time it was the stable jockey of Beerbaum Stables, Philipp Weishaupt (GER), who was obviously in a hurry on his only ten-year-old gelding Zineday (Zinedine x Polydor), blazing across the finish line in 36.68 seconds to join his heavily pregnant wife Domenika not even a kilometer away.
However, the golden ribbon was snatched away from the Riesenbecker by the final rider Jur Vrieling (NED). The Dutch rider was flawless on the grey mare Griffin van de Heffinck (Castelino van de Helle x Contact van de Heffinck), setting the winning mark in 36.25 seconds.
Hungarian Balázs Krucsó (HUN) rode Caja 38 (Cornado NRW x Dinard L) towards bronze honors, registering no penalties and a final time of 36.76 seconds.
