Stuttgart, Germany – To the surprise of spectators at the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle on Saturday, Japan stole the spotlight on Saturday at the Stuttgart German Masters CSI 5*-W! Eiken Sato (JPN) beat all the favorites, including the number-one ranked rider in the world, teaming up with Chacanno Jra to win the €62,000 Two-Round Challenge CSI 5*.

Sato mastered the course in each of the two rounds aboard the 15-year-old bay Oldenburg gelding (Chacco-Blue x Kannan), securing the win in 43.95 seconds.

The feat by the Japanese rider was enhanced by the level of competition he faced, highlighted by the current World Champion and highest-ranked rider in the world, Henrik von Eckermann (SWE), who secured silver honors with Nababette (Nabab de Reve x Gasper), backed by two penalty-free performances in 45 seconds flast.

Alessandra Volpi (NED) and Berlinda (Berlin x Gento) completed the podium after a clean scorecard too, doing so in 46.27 seconds.
