McLain Ward & Catoki Turn & Burn to Win $38,000 McKee Family International Challenge CSI 5*-W

Toronto, Ontario, Canada – November 09, 2022 – After the opening CSI 5*-W earlier on the day, the Royal Horse Show CSI 5*-W continued with another major showjumping attraction of the 100th Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. In Wednesday evening’s $38,000 McKee Family International Challenge CSI 5*-W, three-time Olympic gold medalist McLain Ward (USA) and Catoki did what they do best, racing to the top of the leaderboard.

The American and the 13-year-old bay Westphalian stallion (Catoki x Caretello B), , owned by Ward, Bob Russell, and Marilla van Beuren, sped to victory in the 1.45m speed challenge, completing the course flawlessly in 46.21 seconds.

Just as in the previous class that he had finished second, Ireland’s Conor Swail (IRL) put in a strong effort, this time riding Count Me In (Count Grannus x Sherlock Holmes) for second-place once again, matching the clean performance of the eventual winners but in 49.35 second.

Nayel Nassar (EGY) finished third with El Conde (Loro Piana Filou de Muze x Final Shot) also left all the poles up for no penalties, rounding out the top three due to their time of 50.63 seconds.
