
Maastricht, The Netherlands – November 04, 2022 – To the delight of spectators from the host nation, the opening day of the Jumping Indoor Maastricht CSI 4* was dominated by Dutch riders, claiming the most important wins for a true Dutch party! Moreover, Dutch riders took the first five places in the €40,000 VDL Groep Prijs CSI 4* last Friday.
The best rider in the 1.50m contest was this year’s World Championship bronze medal winner Maikel van der Vleuten (NED) with the 2012 bay Royal Dutch Sport Horse / Dutch Warmblood (KWPN) mare (Eldorado vd Zeshoek x Quick Star) completing their flawless jump-off performance in 36.41 seconds.
Ellen Whitaker (GBR)and Equine America Spacecake (Stakkatol x Kannan) were right on their heels, finishing just a bit over two-tenths of a second slower, crossing the jump-off timers in 36.63 seconds.
The level of the competition was high and the final results featured three nations in the top three positions. Cedric Hurel (FRA) rode Fantasio Floreval Z (Florian de la Vie x Clinton) towards two penalty-free rounds too, securing bronze honors in 37.52 seconds.
