Lyon, France – October 28, 2022 – This morning, the CSI 5* riders took part in the €25,500 Prix Boeringer Ingelheim CSI 5*-W in the main arena at the Longines Equita Lyon CSI 5*-W & CSI 2*, Concours Hippique International. This class was run against the clock with obstacles of 1.50m.

Olivier Perreau (FRA) & GL Events Venizia d’Aiguilly

The GL events partner rider, Olivier Perreau (FRA), seemed to be on the verge of winning the class with GL events Venizia d’Aiguilly (Diamant de Semilly x Quick Star), after posting a time of 55.36 seconds but the duo had to settle for second place.

Mark McAuley (IRL) & GRS Lady Amaro

However, Mark McAuley (IRL) ensured a dramatic change of situation at the very end of the class.  Riding his nine-year-old mare GRS Lady Amaro (Diamant de Semilly x Quick Star), the Irish rider calmly took the lead for good , after a very smooth performance exactly two-tenths slower than the previous combination.

Philippe Leoni (FRA) & Uhlan Okkomut

Philippe Leoni (FRA) and Uhlan Okkomut (Mylord Carthago x Eclair des Bois) earned bronze honors, backed by a penalty-free performance in 57.03 seconds.

Winner’s Circle – Mark McAuley (IRL)

“My mare doesn’t have much experience at this level. Last night she incurred two small faults in the Longines Grand Prix, but jumped very well. She had never competed in such a big event before that. So, this morning it must have been a bit easier for her. I tried to ride quite fast and do better than Olivier. I am delighted,” said Mark McAuley.
