
Barcelona, Spain – September 30, 2022 – The current European Champion, Andre Thieme (GER), the €96,000 City of Barcelona Trophy – MRW Cup CSIO 5*, the most important individual class of the CSIO Barcelona. The German rider teamed up with Conacco for the win.
The German and the 11-year-old bay Oldenburg gelding (Conoglio x Chacco-Blue) were the fastest pair amongst the nine combinations that had advanced to the second round, securing the win flawlessly in 49.93 seconds.
About a half second more (51.34) was the time needed by the Dutch rider Harrie Smolders (NED) and Dolinn (Cardento 933 x Lux ) to complete their second penalty-free performance and eventually earn silver honors.
Megane Moissonier (FRA) was third with Cordial (Casall / Chicago Z), completing the top three backed by a clean scorecard too, registering 53.08 seconds in the second round.
On Saturday, the Negrita Cup CSIO 5* (11am) will be the opening class of the day on the Olympic track of the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona. At 2.30 p.m. The Queen’s Cup – Segura Viudas Trophy CSI 5* will be the second. The highlight of the day will be the Longines Challenge Cup CSIO 5*, starting at 9 pm.
