Nayel Nassar & Coronado Continue with their Winning Ways Topping the $37,500 Friends of the Meadows CSI 5*

Spruce Meadows – September 1, 2022 – The first day of the ‘Continental’ CSI 5* & 2*, presented by Rolex, launched two weeks of top international show jumping at Spruce Meadows. The All Alberta Ring was host to Thursday’s 2* competitions while the North American Ring featured the 5* competitors. Athletes compete on Thursday and Friday Friday hoping to qualify for the weekend competitions in their respective divisions.

The feature competition on Thursday was the Friends of the Meadows 1.55M. Competitors took on the one round track against the clock designed by FEI Course Designer Anthony D’Ambrosio (USA). No one could catch Egypt’s Nayel Nassar (EGY) aboard Coronado. The Egyptian and Evergate Stables’ 13-year-old grey Holsteiner gelding (San Patrignano Cassini x Acord II) left all the poles up for no penaltiest yet posted the fastest clear round in a time of 63.30 seconds for the win.

Kent Farrington (USA) and Landon (Comilfo Plus Z x Quadrillo) were right on the heels of the winners, finishing second only five-hundredths of a second slower.

The host nation was also represented on the podium Kara Chad (CAN) rode Quidamo F (Quality 9 x Chameur) towards bronze honors, backed a fault-free performance in 64.18 seconds.
