Brussels, Belgium – August 27, 2022 – A great day of top sport took place on Saturday at the Belgium Stephex Masters CSI 5*, CSI 3* & CSI 2*. Serving as the prelude to Super Sunday and the €500,000 Rolex Grand Prix CSI 5*, the Equihome Grand Prix CSI 2* was one of the main attractions at the great event. Despite not winning the two other major grands prix, the host nation did not disappoint as Virginie Thonon (BEL) and Just The Way rode to victory.
Forty-five combinations took part in the first round of the 1.45m challenge. Thonon and the 2014 Royal Dutch Sport Horse (Dutch Warmblood) gelding (Zirocco Blue VDL x Hemmmingway) were supreme against 3 other combinations that had qualified for the tiebreaker, doing so after a penalty-free performance in 40.11 seconds.
Claire Putters (BEL) and High Fly Special (Chacco-Blue x Indoctro) were the closest ones, registering no penalties in 42.50 seconds for silver honors.
The top three pairs completed the decisive round flawlessly with Steven Vermeir (BEL) and Magnum van het Steentje (Plot Blue x Kannan) securing bronze honors in 43.22 seconds.
Final Results – €25,000 Equihome Grand Prix CSI 2*
