Daniel Deusser & Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z Save the Best for Last in the €52,300 Merchtem Grand Prix CSI 3*

Brussels, Belgium – August 28, 2022 – The climax of the 3* competition was also on the schedule on Sunday with the running of the €52,300 Merchtem Grand Prix CSI 3* at the Brussels Stephex Masters CSI 5*, CSI 3* & CSI 2*. It turned out to be much more than a wonderful warm-up for the €500,000 Rolex Grand Prix CSI 5*.

The jump-off, in which 11 combinations started, had a lot of twists and turns that were received with loud cheers from the audience. Simon Delestre (FRA) the winner of Saturday’s 5* class, and Iniesta V (Zambesi TN x No Limit) were the first to go clear. He remained in the number one position almost until the end of the jump-off, but then his fellow Frenchman Kevin Staut (FRA) and Dialou Blue PS ( Diarado’s Boy x Chacco-Blue) cleared the course only one hundredth of a second faster.

Last to go: Daniel Deusser (GER) and Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z. The 2008 chestnut Zangersheide stallion (Otangelo x Mr Blue) is strong and fast. This afternoon he proved that once again. The combination raced over the grass at a furious pace and took home the CSI 3* Grand Prix with no less than a full second on Staut.
