Kronenberg, The Netherlands – August 18, 2022 – Showjumping is a sport that requires a lot of experience and hardly ever young less experienced riders are able to overcome experts in arenas across the globe. However, that was not the case on Thursday as Abdulrahman Alrajhi (KSA) and Dg Legaland JO teamed up to stun the favorites, winning the €25,500 Zangersheide Foal Auction Prix CSI 2*.
In today’s ranking class 58 duos rode the course . The first clear round was already scored by the number three on the start list:
Out of the original 58 combinations Duarte Seabra (POR) and Dourados 2 were the first ones to qualify for the jump amongst a total of twelve, clearing all the 1.45m obstacles and completing the first round course designed by Marco Hesse and his team without any time penalties.
In the tiebreaker, Michel Hendrix (NED) and Hendrick’s HX (Bustique x Concorde) had the disadvantage of being the second ones to go but their fast clear round in 37.55 seconds turned out to be good for the second place.
A pleasant surprise and one of the youngest riders, all the way from Saudi Arabia, was the only one that lowered the mark, setting the unbeatable time of 36.51 seconds aboard the 2008 bay Irish Sport Horse gelding (Ustinov).
Antonio Matos Almeida (POR) and Calypso de Kamelia (Kannan*Gfe x Le Tot de Semilly) completed the podium with no penalties too, doing so in 37.84 seconds.
