Dublin, Ireland – August 18, 2022 – Nayel Nassar (EGY) and Coronado jumped high and turned on the nitro to claim the top spot in the Anglesea Stakes CSIO 5* on Thursday, the feature class of the day at the 2022 Dublin Horse Show CSIO 5*.
Riding the Evergate’ Stables 13-year-old grey Holsteiner gelding (San Patrignano Cassini x Acord II), the Egyptian was among the fourteen riders who had advanced to the jump-off, registering the fastest clean performance in 35.27 seconds for the win.
Aga Khan team member Cian O’Connor (IRL) and his World Championship mount C Vier 2 (Cardento 933 x Concorde) finished as runners-up after a hugely competitive 14-horse jump-off. They finished seven-tenths of a second (35.97) behind the Egyptian winner.
The difference to the next duo was as tight as it gets. The former number one rider in the world and an equestrian superstar in his own right, Steve Guerdat (IRL) finished third with Albfuehren’s Maddox (Cohiba 1198 x Maraton), just one-hundredth of a second off the mark set by the previous combination.
