Dinard, France – July 31, 2022 – The last day of competition at the Jumping International de Dinard, in Val Porée stadium, took place this Sunday, with three major events held exclusively on the grassy field: the Grand Prix of the CSI3*, CSI1* and CSI5*.
This final day kicked off Sunday morning, at 8.45 am. The €51,300 Grand Hôtel Barrière Grand Prix CSI 3* brought together forty-eight combinations on a relatively tricky course with obstacles set at 1.50 meters, designed by the French ringmaster Jean-Philippe Desmarez (FRA). Indeed, from number one, it was necessary to enter quickly into water, with two broken lines between the first and second obstacle, as well as between the second and third. The course then turned right for an uphill oxer before a vertical wall line. The triple, located at number 8, also posed problems for some couples, but, among the very strong field of riders, twelve found the keys to the perfect course and obtained their ticket for the jump-off.
The first to start, the German Daniel Deusser (GER) and his excellent 2011 chestnut Selle Français stallion Bingo Ste Hermelle (Number One D’Iso x Diamant de Semilly) immediately announced the color: in great shape, the couple signed a new clear round with a fast time of 40.77 seconds.
The following riders struggled to sign a clear round and it was not until the penultimate pair in this final, the French rider Pénélope Leprévost (FRA) riding the GFE stallion Candy de Nantuel (Luidam x Diamant de Semilly), that spectators were able to applaud a clear round. The French rider was however slower and, in 42.84, she took the second provisional place of the Grand Prix.
The last competitor, well aware of the lack of clear rounds in this jump-off, chose not to put his horse in the red. Harrie Smolders (NED), for the Netherlands, and Bingo du Parc (Mylord Carthago*HN x Diamant de Semilly), selected to represent their country at the World Championships in Herning in a few days’ time, signed a jump-off without any penalties, with a time of 46.76 seconds, rounding out the top three as the only other duo with a clean performance in the tiebreaker.
