CSI 3*

Jérôme Guéry & Magriet de Mariposa are the Masters of the €25,500 Conseil Départemental d’Ille-et-Vilaine Prize CSI 3*

Dinard, France – July 29, 2022 – The sun appeared for the second day of competition at Val Porée stadium, during the 2022 edition of the Jumping International de Dinard CSI 5* & CSI 3*. On the program on Friday, notably the second qualifying class of the CSI 3*, which saw the very fine victory of the Belgian Jérôme Guéry (BEL) and Magriet de Mariposa in the €25,500 Conseil Départemental d’Ille-et-Vilaine CSI 3*.

The second qualifying class for the Grand Prix of the CSI3*, presented by the Conseil départemental d’Ille-et-Vilaine, started at the beginning of the afternoon on the grass track, with a 1.50m class which was run on the A scale. Fifty-five combinations were at the start of a rather delicate course, designed by Jean-Philippe Desmarez (FRA). In setting up his course, he was right, as exactly eight couples managed to complete a round without penalty.

However, the first clear round was a bit slow: we had to wait for the beautiful performance by the Frenchman Julien Gonin (FRA) and his sparkling Estrella de la Batia, number 19, for the public in the stands of Val Porée to get into the rhythm. The duo were quickly joined by the Belgian Grégory Wathelet (BEL), the Swiss Alexandra Amar (SUI) and the Irishman Darragh Kenny (IRL).

But we had to wait until the very last pair of the event to know the outcome because the Belgian Jérôme Guéry (BEL) cut short the hopes of his counterpart Grégory Wathelet, to whom he blew past to claim the win. Riding Magriet de Mariposa, daughter of the Olympic Flora de Mariposa, formerly ridden by the French rider Pénélope Leprévost (FRA).

Guéry and the 2012 bay Blegian Warmblood mare (Nabab de Reve x For PLeasure) won in 71’55, ahead of his compatriot, Grégory Wathelet associated with Berline du Maillet Z (Berlin x Action-Breaker), timed in 72.58 seconds. The second tider in the world ranking, the Swede Henrik Von Eckermann (SWE), was third in this class with his Glamour Girl (VDL Zirocco Blue x Caletto I) in 73.57 seconds.
