La Coruña, Spain – July 17, 2022 – A great weekend of top sport came to an end on Sunday at Hipica Casas Novas and it was Sergio Álvarez Moya (ESP) and Alamo who claimed top honors in the feature class of the week, the €96,000 Casas Novas Grand Prix CSI 4*.
Javier Trenor (ESP) set the stage for the two-round challenge, in which 46 combinations had to face and overcome obstacles at 1.60m before crossing the finish line within the time allowed of 76 seconds in the first round. Thirteen combinations advanced to the second round but only seven finished with a clean scorecard after their second performance. In the end, it was home jockey Sergio Álvarez Moya (ESP) who proved too fast aboard the 14-year-old black Dutch Warmblood gelding (Ukato x Equador), securing the win in 45.05 seconds.
Maikel van der Vleuten (NED) & Elwikke (Eldorado vd Zeshoek x Quick Star) were the closest ones, finishing second after a final time of 45.05 seconds. Fernando Martinez Sommer (MEX) and Charlie Harper (Comme Il Faut 5 x Salinator) put on a valiant effort, rounding out the top three in 45.87 seconds.
