Rotterdam, The Netherlands – June 23, 2022 – The first day of the CHIO of Rotterdam came to an end with the host nation claiming top honors in the feature class. A sublime performance by Willem Greve (NED) with Highway M TN ensured first place for the Dutchman in the €27,050 AON Prize CSIO 5*.
The AON Prize CSIO 5*, a 1,55 meter-competition against the clock and without a jump-off, only gave the combinations one shot at proving themselves. The course proved challenging, as multiple combinations made a mistake on one of the double jumps.
Willem Greve (NED), crowned Dutch champion last April with the same horse, a 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood stallion (Eldorado vd Zeshoek x Black Walter), managed to stay in the clear. With the Dutch Warmblood-approved stallion, he set the fastest time: 73,59 seconds.
Greve managed to just stay ahead of Simon Delestre (FRA) and Dexter Fontenis Z (Diarado x Voltaire). The latter duo earned silver honors backed by a flawless round in74.16 seconds.
Belgian rider Olivier Philippaerts (BEL) and Zayado ( Cayado x Casall) claimed third place with no penalties in 74.26 seconds.
