Jordan Coyle & Picador Blaze to Victory in $75,000 ATCO Grand Prix CSI 2* at Spruce Meadows

Calgary, Alberta, Canada – June 19, 2022 – The $75,000 ATCO Grand Prix CSI 2* was the first event on the International Ring for the final day of the ‘National CSI 5* & 2*‘, presented by Rolex. The top 35 riders from competitions earlier in the week qualified to  compete in the 2* Grand Prix finale. Eleven horse/rider combinations passed all the tests of the first round set out by FEI Course Designer Anthony d’Ambrosio (USA) and came back for jump off.

Jordan Coyle (IRL) and Picador (Billy Mexico x Animo) were the first ones to go in the jump-off but that disadvantage did not keep them from winning after leaving all the poles up for no penalties and laying down an incredibly fast time of 43.98 seconds.

Saturday’s $400,700 RBC Grand Prix of Canada CSI 5*, presented by Rolex winner, Matthew Sampson (GBR) teamed up with Ebolensky (Clinton x Heartbreaker) this time, being the closest ones, finishing second with a time of 47.27 seconds in the tiebreaker.

Once again, the host nation managed to put one of their talented riders on the podium as Ben Asselin (CAN) rode The Freshman (Namelus R x Chin Chin) towards two penalty-free performances too, earning bronze honors in 47.63 seconds.
