Barbara Schnieper & Escoffier Excel in €26,000 Suttero Prize CSIO 5* at St. Gallen

St. Gallen, Switzerland – June 03, 2022 – Barbara Schnieper (SUI) stole the spotlight on the opening day of the Longines CSIO 5* of St. Gallen, teaming up with Escoffier for the win in the feature class of the day, the €26,000 Suttero Prize CSIO 5*.

A total of 42 combinations lined-up for the first round but only seven of them advanced to the tiebreaker of the 1.50m contest. In the end, it Schnieper who claimed top honors for the host nation, guiding the 13-year-old bay Dutch Warmblood gelding (Lord Z x Numero Uno) flawlessly across the finish line in 35.15 seconds.

A living legend of the John Whitaker (GBR) has turned back time the past few weeks, earning a win last weekend and several top placings. This time, the legendary Brit finished second aboard Sharid (Toulon x Vancouleurs), matching the winners’ clean jump-off performance in 36 seconds flat.

After solid performances in Rome last weekend, Francesca Ciriesi (ITA) was back on the podium, She rode Cape Coral (Comme Il Faut 5) towards the third spot on the podium, completing her second penalty-free effort in 36.83 seconds for bronze honors.
